The Rocky Mountain Regional USPTO welcomes all inventors, makers, entrepreneurs, small business owners, and IP practitioners to join in its programming this summer. We have several informative and engaging events planned for the remaining months of the fiscal year.

In June, we're hosting Path to a Patent, a three-part series. In August, we invite the Rocky Mountain innovation community to join in celebrating the past, present, and future at the fifth anniversary of the Rocky Mountain Regional USPTO.

The Path to a Patent: Part One

Primary Patent Examiner and Outreach Advisor Kristina Dehererra will present an introduction to intellectual property and its different types, how to determine if an idea is novel, and the comparison between a provisional and non-provisional patent application.

In this module, we will discuss the benefits of searching, how to perform a prior art search using keywords and the Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) system, and how to build a search strategy

Trademark Tuesday

August 13, 1 – 2 p.m. MT
Rocky Mountain Regional USPTO, Denver, Colorado

In collaboration with other regional partners, the Rocky Mountain Regional USPTO will host an interactive session with experts from the office’s Trademark Assistance Center (TAC). During this virtual program, TAC experts will provide an introduction to trademarks and discuss the trademark application process.

SBIR Road Tour

August 16, 7:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. MT
UCAR Center Green Campus, Boulder, Colorado

This program connects entrepreneurs with next generation research and development ideas to the largest source of early stage funding. The event will be led by the Small Business Administration’s Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer programs.

The Path to a Patent, Part Three: Electronic Filing using EFS-Web

August 16, 10 a.m. – noon MT
Rocky Mountain Regional USPTO, Denver, Colorado

In this module, the presenter will focus on the benefits of searching, working with the Cooperative Patent Classification (CPC) system, keyword searching vs. CPC searching, the seven-step search process, and building a search strategy using keywords.

5th Anniversary Celebration of Rocky Mountain Regional Office
