New USPTO and Brazil agreement expands applicant options

Effective December 1, a new Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) agreement between the USPTO and Brazil’s National Institute for Industrial Property (INPI) expands the options for obtaining a patent in Brazil.

The new agreement expands on a prior agreement by allowing for applications from more industries and for higher annual caps.

More information is available on the USPTO-INPI PPH page of the USPTO website and the INPI’s PPH page (in Portuguese).
