Engineering a better life
Rory Cooper has always enjoyed tinkering and competition. As a kid growing up in Southern California, he ran track and cross country, and he often worked in his parents’ garage, making improvements to skateboards and bicycles. He brought these skills to his work in the U.S. Army, but then an accident changed his life forever and set him on a path to become an inventor, engineer, and bronze medalist.

USPTO meets critical goals to reduce patent examination pendency
For many years, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has been working to reduce patent pendency times. And since 2018, the agency has had specific goals of under 15 months for first office actions and under 24 months for total pendency, on average. We have now achieved these goals!

Congratulations to inventor John B. Goodenough for winning The Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He previously was honored with the National Medal of Science in 2011, and last year, the USPTO presented him with an inventor collectible card.
