PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST TRADEMARK FRAUD Did you use an online filing firm to submit your trademark application? Such as Trademark Terminal? Or Trademark Falcon? If so, you may be the victim of fraud. To find out if you’ve been scammed, check your application in our database at tsdr.uspto.gov. That’s the Trademark Status and Document Retrieval system. Simply enter your eight-digit serial number in the search box. And select “Status.” If you see the “Suspended Pending Administrative Review” status, you may be a victim of fraud. And if your application was based on fraud, it is invalid and we have no option but to suspend it and terminate it. What should you do next? File a new application to register your trademark. Your current application can’t move forward or be revived. We recommend you hire an experienced trademark attorney to assist you. Or you can learn how to file on your own. Visit www.uspto.gov/TrademarkBasics. Dispute the fraudulent charges. Once your application is terminated, contact your credit card company and request a refund. Report the fraud. Contact the Federal Trade Commission, the Better Business Bureau, or your state’s Attorney General. We take fraud seriously and are doing everything we can to eliminate it from the federal trademark registration system. Learn how to protect yourself at www.uspto.gov/TMFraud.
