Explanation of complaint between customer and invention promoter: Harvey Reese Associates says for $189.00 they will evaluate your idea and if it is marketable, license your invention to manufacturer. It says on the website it takes three weeks, gives or take. l submitted my idea on 5-6-16 for a gift card holder/greeting card with the suggestion that a design patent maybe advantageous. While I was waiting my three weeks I began to find many complaints on Harvey. I called a patent attorney and made an appointment then ca/led Harvey to see how the process was going. He said he never got the submission (many complaints I found say he only collects money and does not actively market your product for licensing) and asked me to email it to him with any pictures (this exact thing happened in one complaint and the complainer said after sending in email form he never heard back and 3 years later his idea was patented using the drawings he submitted), I did not. My patent attorney filed a design patent and submitted a provisional one as well. One of many concerns with Harvey is even though we signed a non disclosure he may be actively trying to patent or market my invention. He also could haved passed it to a third party. Unfortunately I will not know until my design patent gets approved or rejected, and that can take months. Once my idea is protected I will call Harvey and ask for a refund. So, to make a long story short, he charged me and performed no services and may be stealing my idea. The form of mass media he uses and where I learned of him was the two books her published. He also uses we search to entice potential customers. I have no relationship with the firm other than checking his books out from the library and submitting one idea.
