James E. Brookshire currently serves as the Executive Director of the Federal Circuit Bar Association. At the United States Department of Justice, he worked with almost every federal agency and the Executive Office of the President, argued (including en banc arguments) before the United States Court of Claims, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the United States Court of Federal Claims, and participated in briefings with the Solicitor General before the United States Supreme Court. His dispute resolution experience involved all three branches and helped facilitate the enactment of over 15 pieces of national legislation. He sits ex officio on the Advisory Council of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Separately, Mr. Brookshire provides complex dispute resolution services in contexts ranging from natural resources to business management and local and international goodwill. He has served on boards and as president in both professional bar and charitable and educational outreaches, most recently as president of the Rotary Club of Washington D.C., and as a member of the governing Council of the Metropolitan D.C. Synod of the Lutheran Church (ELCA).
