In late June of 2003, the USPTO started mailing a Transactional Patent Customer Service Survey in randomly selected applications containing notices of allowances. The survey will continue for about four weeks.
This transactional Patent Customer Service Survey is in lieu of the comprehensive Customer Service Survey, which will be administered biannually, and is slated for delivery again in FY 2004. In the alternating years, the Transactional Patent Customer Service Survey supplements the comprehensive Customer Service Survey. This revised approach to customer surveys arose out of the Quality Initiatives in the 21st Century Strategic Plan and resurrects the patent action survey, which was part of the USPTO Quality Reinforcement Program of the early 1990's.
The data gathered from the transactional survey will be released in summary format only and cannot be linked back to any respondent application.
