The Deputy Commissioner for Patent Quality is pleased to announce the second Patent Quality Chat in the 2016 webinar series on Tuesday, February 9 from noon to 1 pm ET to share information and collect feedback on First Inventor to File (FITF) Patent Prosecution. USPTO FITF experts Kathleen Kahler Fonda from the Office of Patent Legal Administration (OPLA) and Tom Hughes from of the Office of Patent Quality Assurance (OPQA) will be sharing some FITF statistics about filings and prosecution since FITF went into effect almost 3 years ago.  Moreover, they will present some helpful tips concerning AIA status, invoking prior art exceptions during prosecution, and getting more help with application-specific questions.  Additionally, they are looking forward to hearing your ideas on how to help Applicants with prosecution of their FITF applications in the future.  This chat will be the second in the 2016 series of webinars on various aspects of patent quality as brought to you by the Enhanced Patent Quality Initiative (EPQI).

Patent Quality Chat is a monthly, lunchtime webinar series designed to provide information on patent quality topics and gather your input. Webinar participants are encouraged to join the discussion during the event by emailing PatentQualityEventParticipationBox@uspto.gov. Each Patent Quality Chat webinar includes a speaker(s) presentation (approximately 20-30 minutes) and time for questions and comments from the virtual audience. All Patent Quality Chats are free and open to all; no registration is required, No CLE credit will be available through the USPTO. Video recordings and any presentation materials from the Patent Quality Chats are posted on our Patent Quality Chat website after an event has concluded.
