Pursuant to the Federal Register notice published on December 30, 2003 (68 FR 75217), and based on responses by interested parties, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will hold a round table meeting in Arlington, Virginia, on February 17, 2004, to discuss the equities of inter partes reexamination proceedings.

Participants in the round table meeting will discuss their experience or views relating to current inter partes reexamination procedures and possible legislative reforms or alternatives to current procedures. The purpose of the meeting is not to reach consensus on any particular issue, but for participants to air their thoughts on inter partes reexamination-related matters.

Because of space limitations, the observing audience for the round table meeting and discussion will be restricted, if necessary, to 75 persons. The round table meeting will be held on February 17, 2004, from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m. in the USPTO conference room on the second floor of Crystal Park 2, 2121 Crystal Drive, Arlington, Virginia.
