New Patent Design Unveiling at SxSW

On March 11, 2018, the USPTO unveiled a new patent cover design at South by Southwest in Austin, TX. Inventor of the Ethernet Bob Metcalfe and IBM master inventor Susann Keohane joined then USPTO Director Andrei Iancu and then Commissioner for Patents Drew Hirshfeld to officially present the new design. This is only the second time that the design of the U.S. patent has changed in the last century.
