USPTO Forum on the Geneva Act: Final Rules

Title I of the Patent Law Treaties Implementation Act of 2012 (PLTIA) amends the patent laws to implement the provisions of the 1999 Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement Concerning International Registration of Designs (Hague Agreement) and is to take effect in the United States on May 13, 2015.

The Hague Agreement provides that an applicant is entitled to apply for design protection in Hague Agreement member countries and with intergovernmental organizations by filing a single, standardized international design application in a single language. On April 2, 2015, the Hague Agreement Final Rules Package was published in the Federal Register (80 F.R. 63, pp. 17918-17971). The Hague Agreement related Final Rules will also take effect on May 13, 2015.

On April 29, 2015, beginning at 9:00AM, the USPTO will host a public forum highlighting the Final Rules.  The event will be held at the USPTO in Alexandria, Virginia.
