The Public User's Meeting was held at 2:00 p.m. in the 1st floor conference room 1D04/1D14 of the Remsen Building at 400 Dulany Street on the USPTO campus in Alexandria, Virginia. Ted Parr, Director, Public Information Services Group chaired the meeting. There were 3 members of the public in attendance.

Announcements

The requirement to enter a CAPTCHA code when accessing Public PAIR from a Universal Public Workstation (UPWS) in the PSF will soon be removed. No exact date was given for the start of implementation; testing began Nov. 17, 2009.

USPTO will close Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, in observance of the Thanksgiving Day Holiday and will re-open at the normal time on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009.

PSF Updates

A user wanted to address the rumors that the PSF will begin closing earlier in the evening as a cost saving move. He stressed that the later evening hours lower usage during "peak hours" thereby freeing up bandwidth during those times. Mr. Parr confirmed that USPTO is considering the matter but that no decision had been made.

PRD Updates

There is nothing to report at this time.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:12pm

Next meeting: Dec. 16, 2009 in Remsen building conference center at 2:00pm.
