Continuing Legal Education for Patent Practitioners

The USPTO organizes and participates in a variety of continuing legal education (CLE) courses for patent practitioners. These include patent CLE courses and ethics CLE courses.  As per the  Final Rule the USPTO recognizes patent practitioners on the public register who certify completion of six (6) credit hours of continuing legal education in the 24 months preceding payment of the biennial active patent practitioner fee, including five (5) credit hours of patent law and practice and one (1) hour of ethics credit. Participation in USPTO CLE is voluntary for patent practitioners and generally open to everyone.
