The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) will host the 43rd Conference of the Trilateral Cooperation October 20-21, 2025, in Alexandria, Virginia. 

The meeting theme is "Strengthening the patent system by utilizing advanced information technology (IT) tools to create efficiencies and improve patent examination quality." The meeting aims to facilitate meaningful discussions among industry representatives and leaders of the intellectual property offices in Europe, Japan, and the United States. 

Discussions will focus on exploring strategies to utilize advanced tools—particularly those leveraging artificial intelligence and data analytics—to streamline and improve the overall efficiencies associated with patent examination processes and prosecution. The Trilateral Offices (the USPTO, the European Patent Office, and the Japan Patent Office), with industry’s input, will explore cooperative initiatives that benefit stakeholders.
