The above chart shows monthly Utility, Plant, and Reissue (UPR) filings, not including RCEs received between October 2012 through May 2017. The spike in March 2013 was a result of increased filing coinciding with implementation of the First Inventor to File (FITF) provisions of the America Invents Act (AIA). Also in March 2013, a very large volume of provisional applications were filed. Applications claiming priority to these provisionals were filed approximately a year later, producing the spike in March 2014.
