PTAB API v2 Update

On Thursday, June 27, 2019, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) API v2 for public bulk data downloads and search will now include Appeals information. In addition to the AIA trials documents, the RESTful API and PTAB UI will now allow users to download Appeals documents and search for specific Appeals content.
 
These Open Data PTAB capabilities will be available at https://developer.uspto.gov/api-catalog/ptab-api-v2 
 
Please note that PTAB API v1 will be retired at a later date, and customers should transition to PTAB API v2. PTAB API v1 is available at https://developer.uspto.gov/api-catalog/ptab-api
 
Also, on June 27, 2019, a new version of the Office Action Rejections and Citations APIs will be made available on the Open Data portal. These new APIs will refresh daily and allow users to easily browse Office Action rejection and citation information.

These Office Action APIs will be made available in the Open Data portal API catalog at https://developer.uspto.gov/api-catalog

Maintenance affecting Multiple Systems

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Monday, July 8 and ending at 3 a.m., Monday, July 8 ET.  

During the maintenance periods, the following systems will be unavailable:

• my.uspto.gov website
• Electronic Filing System (EFS-Web) 
• Private PAIR 
• PKI to USPTO.gov Account Migration Tool 
• Patent Practitioner Support Sponsorship Tool  
• Trademark Next Generation ID Manual (TMNG-IDM)

 

The maintenances will cause an outage to Financial Manager, an outage to Patent Maintenance Fee Storefront, and an interruption to payment processing for all USPTO storefronts. Users of the following systems should not attempt to make a payment during the maintenance period:

• Certified Copy Center (CCC) 
• Electronic Filing System for Unregistered eFilers and EFS-Web Contingency
• Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA) 
• Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS) 
• Patent Maintenance Fee Storefront 
• Patent Trial and Appeal Board End to End (PTAB E2E) 
• Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) 
• Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)

 

For Patent Customers:

During the maintenance period, if you need to file a new patent application, you can use EFS-Web for Unregistered eFilers or EFS-Web Contingency. If you need to file a follow-on submission or pay fees, use an alternative filing or payment method.

For PTAB Customers:

If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via the Patent Trial and Appeal Board End-to-End (PTAB-E2E) System, you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ page (https://www.uspto.gov/patents-application-process/patent-trial-and-appeal-board/ptab-e2e-frequently-asked-questions) and see A2 for information concerning your America Invents Act (AIA) petition filing and/or document filing using PTAB-E2E alternative filing methods. For Trademark Customers:

If your deadline is today and the document requiring a fee payment cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing. If your deadline is today and the document cannot be filed electronically, you must use an alternative method of filing.
