Planned Events

Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s (PTAB) API v2 Release in Open Portal

The new Patent Trial and Appeal Board's (PTAB) API v2 for public bulk data downloads and search will be made available on the Open Data Portal on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 12 p.m. ET. The new Open Data Portal capabilities for PTAB include: 

  1. PTAB API v2 - a RESTful API with an enhanced, easy to use search interface to request a bulk download of PTAB content
  2. PTAB UI – a user friendly interface to search PTAB public AIA trial decision documents and search for specific content and perform bulk downloads
  3. PTAB Proceedings by Type – a PTAB data visualization showing the number of AIA petitions filed per month

These Open Data PTAB capabilities will be available at: https://developer.uspto.gov/api-catalog/ptab-api-v2  

Please note that PTAB API v1 will be retired at a later date, and customers should transition to PTAB API v2.  PTAB API v1 is available at: https://developer.uspto.gov/api-catalog/ptab-api

EFS-Web and EFS-Web Contingency Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on EFS-Web and EFS-Web Contingency beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, May 4 and ending at 4 a.m., Saturday, May 4 ET.

EFS-Web and EFS-Web Contingency will be unavailable during the maintenance period.

If you need to file a submission during this maintenance period, please use an alternative filing method.

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting several systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Sunday, May 5 and ending at 4 a.m., Sunday, May 5 ET.

The following systems and systems that interface with these systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

  • Migration Tool
  • Sponsorship Tool
  • Authentication with USPTO.gov account to EFS-Web and Private PAIR. Users will still be able to use their Public Key Identification (PKI) certificates to logon to Electronic Filing System - Web (EFS-Web) and Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (PAIR).

 

DOCX functionality will be unavailable. Specifically, users will be unable to file in the DOCX format or save any DOCX submissions within EFS-Web and will be unable to access the DOCX format within Private PAIR during the maintenance period. However, users will still be able to file, save, and access portable document formats (PDFs) in EFS-Web and Private PAIR. Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on multiple systems beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, May 4 and ending at 5 a.m., May 4 ET.

These applications will not be available during the maintenance period:

  • Certified Copy Center (CCC)
  • Electronic Freedom of Information Act (E-FOIA)
  • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
  • Electronic Trademark Assignment System (ETAS)
  • Trademark Trial and Appeal Board Inquiry System (TTABVUE)

 

Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform systems maintenance beginning at 12:01 a.m., Saturday, May 4 and ending at 4 a.m., Saturday, May 4 ET.

The following systems will be unavailable during the maintenance period:

  • my.uspto.gov website
  • Electronic Filing System (EFS-Web and EFS-Web Contingency)
  • Private PAIR
  • PKI to USPTO.gov Account Migration Tool
  • Patent Practitioner Support Sponsorship Tool
  • Trademark Next Generation ID Manual (TMNG-IDM)

 

The maintenance will cause an outage to Financial Manager, an outage to Patent Maintenance Fee Storefront, and an interruption to payment processing for all USPTO storefronts. Users of the following systems should not attempt to make a payment during the maintenance period:

  • Certified Copy Center (CCC)
  • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
  • Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS)
  • Patent Maintenance Fee Storefront
  • Patent Trial and Appeal Board End to End (PTAB E2E)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)
