Planned Events

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance affecting multiple systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 2 ET.

During this maintenance period, availability of Supplemental Content data for new applications and follow-ons filed will be delayed in the following systems:

    • Patent Center

    • Private Patent Application Information Retrieval (Private PAIR)

Please check Patent Center or Private-PAIR after the maintenance period for confirmation of availability of the Supplemental Content Data. If you have questions, please contact the Patent Electronic Business Center (EBC) at (866) 217-9197 during their operating hours of 6 a.m. to midnight, Monday - Friday ET, or email ebc@uspto.gov.

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on multiple systems from 12:01 until 1 a.m. on Thursday, February 2 ET. 

Only external users will be affected by this maintenance.  External users will not be able to access any GW/Okta protected endpoints.

During the maintenance period, the following systems will be unavailable:

    • API Key Manager

    • EFS Web (Electronic Filing System-Web)

    • Fee Payment Processing (FPNG)

    • MyUSPTO

    • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

    • Office of Enrollment and Discipline - Customer Interface (OEDIS - CI)

    • Patent Center (eMOD)

    • Private PAIR (Patent Application Information Retrieval)

    • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (PTACTS)

    • Trademark Electronic Application System - (TEASi)

    • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)

    • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS-Media)

    • Trademark Status Document Retrieval (TSDR) API 

    • Trademark- eOG(TM- eOG)

    • Trademark Admin (TM-ADMIN)

    • Trademark ID Manual (TM- IDM)

Patent Customers: During the maintenance period, applicants may file new applications, except for National Stage applications under 35 U.S.C. 371, via EFS-Web Unregistered.

If you need to file a National Stage application under 35 U.S.C. 371 or follow-on submission to an existing application during the maintenance period, please use the alternative filing method.

PTAB Customers: If your deadline is today for the petition filing and/or other associated documents to a pending America Invents Act (AIA) case and you cannot file electronically via the  P-TACTS system, you may use an alternative filing method. Please visit the PTAB-E2E FAQ page: https://www.uspto.gov/patents/ptab/ptab-e2e-frequently-asked-questions and see A2 for information concerning your America Invents Act (AIA) petition filing and/or document filing using  P-TACTS alternative filing methods. Trademark System Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Trademark System from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Friday, February 3 ET.

During the maintenance period, the following systems will remain available, but mark images and documents will be unavailable:

    • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)

    • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi)

    • Trademark Status and Document Retrieval (TSDR) will be available but with limited capability

Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS) and Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASi) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the TEAS and TEASi systems from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 ET.

During the maintenance period, TEAS and TEASi will be unavailable.

Electronic Library for Patents (P-ELP) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on P-ELP for two consecutive nights. The dates are as follows:

 • The beginning night of maintenance will be from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4 ET.

 • The final night of maintenance will be from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 5 ET.

P-ELP will be available during the maintenance period; however, some operations may be briefly interrupted or delayed.

Patent Center users should retry if an operation is interrupted or does not appear to have been completed.

Services - Document Wrapper for Patents (S-DWP) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on Services - Document Wrapper for Patents (S-DWP) for two consecutive nights. The dates are as follows:

    • The beginning night of maintenance will be from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 4 ET.

    • The final night of maintenance will be from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 5 ET.

S-DWP will be available during the maintenance period; however, some operations may be briefly interrupted or delayed.

Users should retry if an operation is interrupted or does not appear to have been completed.

Assignments on the Web (AOTW)

The USPTO will perform routine maintenance on AOTW from 9 a.m. until to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 4 ET. 

During the maintenance, AOTW will not be available.

Trilateral Dossier Access (TDA) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the TDA systems from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 5 ET.

During the maintenance period, TDA will be unavailable.

Fee Processing Next Generation (FPNG) Credit Card Payment Maintenance

Due to USPTO maintenance activities, credit/debit card payments will not be accepted from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 ET.  

During the maintenance period, the following USPTO storefronts will be unable to accept credit/debit card payments:

  • Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web)
  • Electronic Filing System-Web Contingency (EFS-Web Contingency)
  • Patent Center
  • Patent Trial and Appeal Case Tracking System (P-TACTS)
  • Patent Maintenance Fees Storefront (FPNG)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System (TEAS)
  • Trademark Electronic Application System International (TEASI)
  • Electronic System for Trademark Trials and Appeals (ESTTA)
  • Electronic Trademark Assignment Search (ETAS)
  • Office of Enrollment and Discipline Customer Interface (OEDCI)
  • Certified Copy Center (CCC)

Customers with an already established USPTO Deposit Account or Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Account may still pay using one of these payment methods during the maintenance window.

If you are unable to wait until the maintenance activity has concluded to pay a fee, the following alternative options are available:

Multiple Systems Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on the Patent Global Dossier Public Access Dossier (P-GD-PAD) and One Portal Dossier (OPD) system from 12:01 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 5 ET.

During the maintenance period, GD-PAD and OPD application may be unavailable.

Users should save all work and log off before the maintenance period begins.

Patent Electronic Filing System-Web (EFS-Web) Maintenance

The USPTO will perform maintenance on EFS-Web from 8 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 5 ET.

During this maintenance period, Fee Worksheets and Acknowledgement Receipts for submissions will not be generated.

Applicants may file submissions in EFS-Web during this time but wait until Monday for those documents to be generated. Applicants may still file submissions via Patent Center.
