Jason P. Clark

Director of Strategic Initiatives

Jason P. Clark is the Director of Strategic Initiatives at the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), where he works with the director of the USPTO to develop and implement intellectual property (IP) policy for the United States. Currently, Mr. Clark is on detail to the Department of Commerce’s Office of Policy and Strategic Planning, where he assists in formulating department-wide policy on IP and technology issues.

Previously, from 2019-2021, Mr. Clark worked as the Senior Advisor and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Director of the USPTO, helping to oversee the agency’s business units. Prior to joining the USPTO, Mr. Clark practiced law in San Francisco, where he specialized in general litigation, cybersecurity, and IP law. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law, with a certificate in IP law from the McCarthy Institute, and an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
