Michelle Rahn

Acting Chief Financial Officer

Michelle Rahn is the Acting Chief Financial Officer (Acting CFO) for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). She manages operations of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), overseeing the agency’s annual budget in excess of $4 billion.

Ms. Rahn has over 25 years of financial management experience, with 17 years in federal government service. She joined the USPTO in 2014 as a Budget Analyst in the Office of Planning and Budget (OPB) within the OCFO. Since then, she has served as the OPB’s Budget Execution Director, Deputy Director, and Acting Director, and most recently as the USPTO’s Acting Deputy Chief Financial Officer.

Prior to joining the USPTO, Ms. Rahn began her career in the private sector as a Financial Analyst at Pentagon Federal Credit Union (now known as PenFed), where she managed a $6 billion portfolio of savings product offerings. Ms. Rahn later worked in the consulting industry and ultimately entered federal service in 2009 at the Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration.

Ms. Rahn earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Delaware and a Master of Business Administration from Virginia Tech’s Pamplin School of Business.
