Step inside the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) courtroom — no law degree required!

As part of the Western Regional Outreach Office’s 10th Anniversary Celebration, we are hosting a live, public PTAB mock hearing. This PTAB hearing will be held in the San Jose City Council Chambers, just across the hall from the City Hall Rotunda.

Watch as three PTAB judges hear arguments presented by law students from Santa Clara University School of Law and Stanford University School of Law in a mock hearing in the style of an America Invents Act proceeding. The students have been coached by attorneys from the law firms of Goodwin, and Michael Best. Modeled after the USPTO’s Legal Experience and Advancement Program (LEAP), this event offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how real cases unfold before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Come learn, observe, and experience the art of advocacy in action.
