per Public inquiry "Questions from Request for Comments" on the RFA)
The purpose for distributing a sample patent application is to assist interested parties who are preparing RFA proposals.
Sample patent application with drawings authored as XML tagged document using USPTO EFS Word Authoring Tool (PASAT).
| Note: The PASAT software is available for download at http://www.uspto.gov/ebc/efs/downloads/downloadndx.htm
You can create your own XML sample XML application specification using PASAT authoring guide and software, if you wish. |
| a). | 3 TIFF image files (contents: Three (3) application figures) |
| b). | 1 XML document file (contents: patent application specification tagged XML) |

1 Word document (contents: source document from which XML document was created) |
| d). | 1 copy of the USPTO standard specification XML .dtd |
| e). | 1 copy of the USPTO standard XML style sheet .xsl |
| 1. | Download the zip file and save to a folder on your computer. (Sample Patent Application Zip file) |
| 2. | Open zip file. |
| 3. | Extract all the files in the zipped file to one new folder on your computer. |
| 4. | Open the folder containing the extracted files. |
| 5. | Click on the file named "demo_samp2_bd36.xml". |

By clicking on this xml file you are launching
your IE web browser.

| You will be viewing the XML Patent Application Specification document instance automatically using the XML style sheet in the IE web browser. | |
| 6. | To view the XML specification without the style sheet rendering, from the browser menu, select View and then select Source. |
| You will automatically view in Notepad the application specification document instance, with dtd tag notations. |
