1. An isolated human placental stem cell that is OCT-4+ and CD34−, wherein OCT-4 is octamer binding protein 4, and wherein said placental stem cell has at least the following characteristics: CD10+, CD29+, CD44+, CD45−, CD54+, CD90+, SH3+, SH4+, SSEA3−, and SSEA4−.
