| 1. A aluminoborosilicate glass composition suitable for making optical polarizers, said glass comprising:
(a) an aluminoborosilicate base glass composition comprising in wt. %:

|
and
(b) a noble metal selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, gold, iridium, rhodium and ruthenium,
wherein said noble metal is present in the final composition in an amount in the range of 0.0025 to 0.5 wt. %; and
wherein said aluminoborosilicate glass contains colloidal silver particles.
