1. A method for preserving error data in a computing platform, the method comprising:
detecting an error on the computing platform, wherein the platform does not contain non-volatile storage;
collecting computing platform error data related to the detected error, wherein the error data comprises hardware state information and software state information;
storing the computing platform error data in volatile storage; and
transferring the error data from the volatile storage to a target component with access to non-volatile storage, wherein transferring the error data comprises transferring the error data to a logical partition; and
rebooting the logical partition, in response to determining the logical partition is not operating properly.
