| 1. A method for detecting endometriosis, the method comprising the steps of:
a) providing a probe having detection means for detecting the presence of ferrous-laden tissue, said probe suitable for in
vivo use, the detection means further comprising means for generating a magnetic field and means for detecting disruptions
in the magnetic field when the probe is in the presence of ferrous-laden tissue;
b) placing said probe in the vagina or peritoneal cavity of a patient;
c) moving said probe in the vagina or peritoneal cavity of said patient until said probe detects the presence of ferrous-laden
tissue; and
d) measuring the amount of ferrous-laden tissue, qualitatively or quantitatively, present in the vagina or peritoneal cavity
of said patient.
