| 1. A method of determining refraction of a patient's eye, comprising:
obtaining a plurality of sets of wavefront measurements of the eye while the eye is successively subjected to a plurality
of different refractive corrections, each set of wavefront measurements containing a plurality of measurements while the eye
is subjected to a single refractive correction;
identifying at least one of said plurality of different refractive corrections as corresponding to at least one subjective
refractive correction for the eye based on comparison of the plurality of sets of wavefront measurements; and
determining a subjective astigmatic correction based at least in part on the at least one subjective refraction correction,
wherein said plurality of different refractive corrections comprise a plurality of different spherical corrections and said
at least one subjective refractive correction comprises at least one subjective spherical correction, wherein the at least
one subjective spherical correction is used to calculate said subjective astigmatic correction, wherein said at least one
subjective spherical correction comprises a first spherical correction (D1) selected based on measurements when said eye is
viewing a target image oriented in a first direction and a second spherical correction (D2)selected based on measurements
when said eye is viewing the target images oriented in a second direction.
