| 1. A processing system supporting a secure mode of operation, said processing system comprising:
a read only memory that includes a read only hardware key;
authentication means for using a public key to authenticate a signature of code requesting access to secure mode; and
secure access means for permitting a region of memory to be accessible to the processor only after the signature of code requesting
access to secure mode is authenticated.
