7. An apparatus in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication system comprising
a memory; and
a processor coupled with the memory, the processor operative to select one order decoding a plurality of symbol streams according an overall data rate of each of the plurality of orders, wherein the overall data rate for each order corresponds to a plurality of data rates for each of a plurality of transmit antennas, wherein a transmit antenna may have a data rate of zero.
