| 1. A method comprising:
detecting mechanical shocks to a disk drive device to provide a shock output signal representative of such mechanical shocks;
filtering the shock output signal to pass signals having a relatively high frequency component, the passed signals provided
to a window detector;
filtering the shock output signal to pass signals having a low frequency component of less than 4 KHz;
inhibiting write operations of the disk drive device responsive to receiving the signals having the high frequency component;
and
compensating for low frequency mechanical disturbances during writing to a track on the disk drive device responsive to receiving
the signals having the low frequency component, wherein control of the inhibiting and control of the compensating are performed
substantially in parallel.
