| 1. A method of refurbishing a used data tape cartridge, the method comprising:
obtaining the used data tape cartridge, wherein said used data tape cartridge comprises a data tape medium including a servo
pattern that was pre-recorded during fabrication of the data tape medium and data that was recorded on the data tape medium
by one or more users during use of the data tape medium;
degaussing the data tape medium; and
recording a new servo pattern on the degaussed data tape medium.
