1. An implantable medical device (IMD) configured to communicate with an external device, comprising:
control circuitry configured to:
after terminating a first communication session, cause advertisement data to be repeatedly transmitted from the IMD to the external device, wherein the advertisement data is configured to allow a second communication session to be established between the IMD and the external device; and
increase a time interval between the transmitted advertisement data over time.
