1. A method for dynamically allocating control channel resources, the method comprising:
determining that a channel condition of a communication channel between a wireless device and an access node meets a criteria, wherein the communication channel comprises a control transmission portion including a first plurality of resources initially allocated for control information and a data transmission portion including a second plurality of resources initially allocated for actual data;
responsive to determining that the channel condition meets the criteria, scheduling data transmissions in the control transmission portion of the communication channel; and
notifying the wireless device that data transmissions are scheduled in the control transmission portion of the communication channel.
