6. A system for monitoring a mechanical device for internal corrosion, comprising:
a sampling thermoelectric polymer sheet (TEPS) disposed on an external surface of the mechanical device in a location that is susceptible to internal corrosion;
a reference TEPS disposed on an external surface of the mechanical device in a location that is not susceptible to internal corrosion;
an ammeter to measure a current generated by the sampling TEPS;
an ammeter to measure a current generated by the reference TEPS; and
a difference calculator to determine a difference between the current generated by the sampling TEPS and the current generated by the reference TEPS.
