1. A patient support apparatus comprising:
a frame;
a stationary member mounted relative to said frame;
a movable member having a pivot member rotatably mounting said movable member about said stationary member to provide pivotal motion for said movable member;
a fastener securing said pivot member to said stationary member; and
a joint between said pivot member and said stationary member, and said joint applying a tension force on said fastener to generate a friction force between said stationary member and said pivot member to provide controlled resistance to said pivotal motion of said movable member.
