1. A bait station for attracting and capturing insects, the bait station comprising:
a housing that includes a first surface and defines an interior cavity; and
a formulation comprising an active ingredient, the formulation being disposed within the interior cavity,
wherein the housing defines a receiving space within the interior cavity and includes a tapered post disposed within the receiving space and extending upwardly from the first surface of the housing to a post end,
wherein the housing includes an inner ramped surface and a front ramped surface, the inner ramped surface extends inboard of an outer wall and is configured to allow insects to exit the bait station, the front ramped surface is disposed opposite the inner ramped surface, and the housing further includes a plurality of apertures that are configured to allow insects to pass therethrough into the interior cavity,
wherein the front ramped surface is configured to guide insects to the plurality of apertures, and
wherein the first surface includes at least one protrusion extending from an inner wall into the receiving space, the protrusion being configured to align a pad within the receiving space.
