| 1. A rate matching device, which punctures a part of encoded input information bits, for a data communication system having
a turbo encoder for the encoding input information bits at a predetermined code rate and outputting a systematic bit stream,
a first parity bit stream and a second parity bit stream for the input information bits to generate encoded bits of the input
information bits, comprising:
a first rate matching block to receive the first parity bit stream and puncture a determined number of first parity bits in
the first parity bit stream; and
a second rate matching block to receive the second parity bit stream and puncture a determined number of second parity bits
in the second parity bit steam,
wherein the first parity bit stream is different from the second parity bit stream, and at least one of said first and second
rate matching blocks is adapted to rate-match its respective parity bits, and a part of said first and second parity bits
are rate-matched in each of said first and second rate matching blocks respectively according to rate matching parameters
corresponding to each rate matching block.
