1. A compound having the formula of (I):
X-L-Y  (I)
wherein
X is selected from islet neogenesis-associated protein peptide (INGAP-PP) or an analog thereof, or human proIslet peptide (HIP) or an analog thereof;
L is a linker selected from (EAAAK)m, wherein m is 1, 2 or 3 (SEQ ID NO: 122), A(EAAAK)4ALEA(EAAAK)4A (SEQ ID NO: 124), AEAAAKEAAAKA (SEQ ID NO: 127), PAPAP (SEQ ID NO: 128) and (AP)n, wherein n is an integer selected from 5-17 (SEQ ID NO: 129); and
Y is an epidermal growth factor receptor agonist or a cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide, or an analog thereof.
