| 1. A method of screening a human for Alzheimer's disease comprising the steps of:
obtaining a cortical brain tissue sample from a subject;
measuring the amount of p62 protein in the sample; and
comparing the measured amount of p62 protein against a control amount of p62 protein from a control brain tissue sample of
a non-affected subject;
wherein Alzheimer's disease is identified when the measured amount of p62 protein is fifty percent or less than the amount
of p62 protein in the control sample.
