| 1. An apparatus for the fluidized catalytic cracking of a hydrocarbon feedstock comprising:
a reaction conduit for contacting a hydrocarbon feedstock and solid catalyst particles to produce a mixture of solid catalyst
particles and gaseous fluids, said reaction conduit having a swirl exit configured to induce the mixture of solid catalyst
particles and gaseous fluids to swirl in an angular direction to decrease the catalyst concentration of the mixture;
a gas recovery conduit for transporting said mixture upwardly;
at least one plate attached to an inner wall of said gas recovery conduit to impede swirling of said mixture in the gas recovery
conduit; and
a cyclone in communication with said gas recovery conduit, said cyclone having a swirl inducing wall that induces the mixture
of solid catalyst particles and gaseous fluids to swirl to further decrease the concentration of catalyst in said mixture.
