| 1. A method for detecting an edge of a component mounted on a substrate, comprising:
a first edge detecting step detecting an edge of the component from image data of the component based on first characteristic;
and
a second edge detecting step detecting an edge of the component from the image data of the component based on a second characteristic,
wherein:
in each of said first edge detecting step and said second edge detecting step, an edge detection target image area is defined
by a search window from the image of the component, and image data included in the thus-defined edge detection target image
area is applied for the edge detection.
