1. An isolated and purified peptide which blocks the binding of an anti-HLA class II antibody to a cell expressing HLA class II antigen and is capable of eliciting antibodies reactive against HLA class II antigen, wherein the sequence of the peptide is selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:1, SEQ ID NO:2, SEQ ID NO:3, SEQ ID NO:4, SEQ ID NO:5, SEQ ID NO:7 and SEQ ID NO:8.
