1. A handle body for a walking aid to aid a user in walking on a walking surface, the user having a wrist and at least one hand with a web between a thumb and an index finger, the handle body comprising:
a generally cylindrical palm grip configured for a user to wrap the hand around to grip the handle body;
a substantially vertical front post;
a substantially vertical rear post;
a handle web disposed between the palm grip and the front post and being configured to contact the web of the user's hand when the user grips the handle body, wherein the palm grip is configured to be at a higher position than the web to discourage the user from engaging in twisting and rolling motions; and
a thumb rest configured so that the user positions the thumb on the thumb rest to more securely grip the handle body to discourage the user from engaging in twisting and rolling motions of the hands and wrist, wherein the thumb rest comprises a contoured ridge formed by a contoured groove integrally formed on a side of the handle body, wherein the contoured ridge of the thumb rest is configured to project outwardly and downwardly from the handle web, to extend at an angle downwardly along the side the handle body, and to become substantially horizontal near a bottom side of the front post to allow a tip of user's thumb resting thereon.
