1. An access point (AP), comprising:
a processor; and
a memory operatively connected to the processor, and including computer code that when executed, causes the processor to:
assign a basic service set identifier (BSSID) to a virtual AP (VAP) configured as a mesh VAP on the AP;
aggregate BSSID information of the mesh VAP and other VAPs configured on the AP; and
generate and broadcast a plurality of multiple BSSID (MBSSID) beacons with the BSSID information of the mesh VAP being included in each of the plurality of MBSSID beacons and some subset of the other VAPs being transmitted in each of the plurality of MBSSID beacons.
