| 1. An electrode catalyst for fuel cells which comprises:
a carbon material that contains catalytically induced turbostratic structures in parts of its structure and noble metal particles
supported thereon,
wherein the turbostratic structures comprise carbon nanoonion structures (onion-like carbon nanostructures) that have each
developed in the form of an onion-like laminate around a metal particle comprising at least one of iron, cobalt, nickel, chromium
and manganese.
