1. A zeolite for selectively producing ethylene and propylene from naphtha comprising:
a crystal structure having substantially non-intersecting 10 membered ring channels with a dimension from about 0.1 micrometers to about 0.3 micrometers in the direction of the channels;
elliptical pores within the crystal structure wherein the elliptical pores are defined such that the pore index is greater than 22 Å2 and less than 30 Å2;
wherein the zeolite has a silicon to aluminum ratio from about 20 to about 200; and
the zeolite is characterized by hydrothermal stability up to a temperature of about 700° C.
