a first area in which a video file is recorded,
the video file including a plurality of extents,
the video file including an unrecorded area and a video object,
the unrecorded area being able to store new video data,
the unrecorded area being managed as at least one of the extents,
the video object having video object units,
one of the video object units containing video packs, audio packs and one begin pack,
each of the video packs and the audio packs having predetermined size, and
said begin pack including recording time information on the corresponding video object unit; and
a second area in which a management file is recorded,
the management file including video management information, the video management information having program chain information,
the program chain information containing cell information representing a cell,
the cell referring to a whole or a part of the video object, and

a third area in which file management information is recorded,
the file management information including a file entry (FE) specifying a location of the video file, and a File Identifier Descriptor (FID),
the file entry including a first allocation descriptor, the first allocation descriptor having length information on one of the extents and position information on the one of extents, and
an unallocated area being described by either a space bit map or a space table,
the space table being described by an unallocated space entry, and the unallocated space entry including second allocation descriptors, and
the unallocated space entry including byte number information indicating a length of the second allocation descriptors,
wherein the video management information is read and provided to control recording, playing back, or editing the video file by an information recording/reproducing apparatus, the video file is accessed according to the video management information.
