1. A Solid-state laser oscillator or solid-state laser amplifier with a disk-shaped amplifier medium, wherein the laser has a mode number M2 of 7 or greater in a first direction and in a second direction which is orthogonal to the first direction has a mode number M2 of 7 or less.
