| 1. A method for controlling a wind turbine comprising the steps of:
measuring an operating parameter of the wind turbine;
determining a standard deviation of the measured operating parameter; and
selecting an operating set point such that the operating set point is maintained a predetermined number of standard deviations
from an operating limit, thereby maintaining operation of the wind turbine during adverse weather conditions.
