An optical element, comprising a birefringent material film and glass substrates adhered to the surfaces of the birefringent material film through an adhesive, wherein end surfaces of the birefringent material film and the glass substrates are moisture-proofed by a coating formed from a solution prepared by mixing a soluble fluorine resin and an ethylenic compound. |
